One day ride in Moganshan

This time we decided to go only for a one day ride. Considering the really cold weather, I can definitely confirm this was the good solution. It was the first time of the winter we were riding with legging!!!

So, we left Shanghai on Friday evening with Yamgqi’s van. After about 3 hours drive (south-west of Shanghai) we arrived at our hotel. It was a perfect one at first approach. Everything was brand new inside, it was calm… but it was not heated!!! There was a freezing wind outside and we were not able to say if it was even warmer inside…

After a fresh night, we started with an uphill tarmac road. This changed to a fire road after a few kilometers and finally it quickly became a muddy road until the top where some snow could be seen locally…

Anyway, the few snow did not disturb us and the speedy way downhill enabled us to clean a bit our wheels.

Globally, Moganshan is very nice, full of bamboos and single tracks. But Moganshan is also very slippery! Some trails were pretty dangerous.

Down in the valley, we saw a lot of farmers cutting bamboos and we had to slalom among cut trunks almost everywhere… I guess it was bamboo season!

Despite the cold weather, we all really enjoyed this nice ride in the middle of bamboos.

At the end of the day, we almost rode 38km with more than 1300m elevation. It was not a big trip but enough to have pretty good entertaining weekend!

As the mountain is verry steep. Few people is living at the top. There are quite no roads and we only see some farmers during our trips. Hopefully they are there as the single tracks we ride are mainly farmers trails.
